Ask for transparency to Venezuela over so-called attack



Lima-thirteen of the 14 countries that make up the Lima group, among them Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, repudiated the repression on Saturday opponents in Venezuela and demanded an investigation transparent over the so-called attack against President Nicolas Maduro, according to statement from the Peruvian cancileria. Read more: broadcast video with “confession” of accused by attack on mature fourteen countries that make up the Lima group made the request to Venezuela. The statement urges President Maduro to “lead an independent, thorough and transparent investigation into the event which took place on 4 August to determine the facts in an impartial manner, with respect for the rule of law and human rights” . Also, “they repudiate any attempt of manipulation that is made of the incident on 4 August to prosecute and suppress political dissent.” 
They call for freedom of opponents. Photo: AFP the statement “condemns and firmly rejects the violation of criminal due process during the arbitrary and illegal detention Deputy Juan Carlos Requesens, as well as the arrest warrant against Deputy Julio Borges”. These last two deputies have been linked by the Venezuelan Government with the so-called August four drones attacked Maduro. The Peruvian cancileria released the statement, signed by all the countries of the Group of Lima (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Peru) with the exception of Santa Lucía.  The collective was created in August 2017 in Lima, therefore its name.
