El INDEC announced this Friday that during the first half of the coming year will be the first measurement of time used in domestic activities and care not paid s, by men and women in the Argentina, and the value they bring to the economic dynamics of the country. The inclusion of this survey is part of the adoption, by the Institute, in the framework of indicators for the measurement of well-being and quality of life of the Organization for cooperation and economic development (OECD), said INDEC, in a statement. In addition, recalled that the study of non-remunerated work has generated a growing interest in recent decades: the Beijing Platform for action, which arose from the 4th World Women Conference of 1995, in which the Argentina participated, includes commitments for the advance in the measurement of this type.
The measurement of the use of time has some history at the local level, as the module applied in the annual survey of households in the autonomous city of Buenos Aires in 2005, a specific survey in the city of Rosario in 2010 and another in the city of Buenos Aires in 2016 .
At the national level, the only record in relation to this theme is a module’s use of time and unpaid work in the Permanent Survey of households (EPH) in the third quarter of 2013.Asimismo, even though there are these precedents, “so far there is not with” national results which provide information and serve as a baseline for measurements of time used in domestic activity and care not paid, by men and women in the Argentina, and the value they bring to the economic dynamics of the country,”said the Agency.
