Mexico Libre won the 200 assemblies required by the National Electoral Institute (INE) to form as a national political party, said former President Felipe Calderón and former presidential candidate Margarita Zavala.
“Two hundred! Congratulations to those who made it possible. We sing with joy the 200 Assemblies of Free Mexico,” said Zavala, founding partner and legal representative of the organization.

Calderon held the installation of more than 200 assemblies but, he said, “we can’t let our guard down.” “The NSO may order the repetition of some, so we need to create a margin of many more to ensure registration and that serve us to reach the goal of affiliations, which is the missing requirement.”

In a shared social media statement from Free Mexico, the organization said it has met one of two requirements, but that “it’s time to redouble efforts.”
“Mexico Free already adds 170 thousand affiliations that represent an advance greater than 70 percent of those required. The rest will be collected during this new year and the beginning of next year by an army of volunteers.” details the text.
It announced that “FoundationAssemblies” will be held in all districts of the country before the deadline of the INE expires.
