The second country in the region most affected in number of cases is Ecuador. This week the authorities processed thousands of tests that had not been treated due to lack of capacity, so the number of cases doubled.
On Friday, Ecuadorian authorities reported 22,719 contagions and 576 deaths.
These two countries are followed, in number of cases, by Peru with 21,648 contagions and 634 deaths; and Mexico with 12,872 contagions, which is the fourth country with the most cases but the second in death, with 1,221. Chile (12,858, 181) is fifth in contagion.
However, this case figure only reflects a portion of all cases, due to the disparate policies of the different countries to carry out their diagnoses. Some, for example, only do so with those who need hospitalization.
