translated from Spanish: Profeco negotiates with supplier lower cost of computer leasing

In order to maintain the lease of computer equipment for its public servants, the Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office (Profeco) agreed with the company that provides the service with a 23% reduction in the amount it charged, which implies a saving of almost 4.5 million pesos for the remainder of the year.
The company in question is Mainbit S.A. de C.V., the same supplier to which the Ministry of Economy recently proposed to sell computers to officials so that they are no longer renting them, as a measure supposedly of budget austerity.

Mainbit has been a provider of the Profeco since April 2014 of the “managed computing” service, which includes not only the computer, but also technical support, as well as access to the institutional network domain and solutions such as antivirus, email and parcel of Office and Adobe.
The contracted service is used by the 61 administrative units of the attorney general’s office throughout the country.
Since 2014 to date, Mainbit has had contracts with Profeco for 241.1 million pesos for the “managed computation” service, according to data available on Compranet.
From 2019 until the middle of this year a contract signed with the company was in force for more than 31 million pesos. The unit was worth a monthly payment of 3 million 249 thousand 320 pesos.
Once that contract expired, Profeco re-signed a new one with Mainbit for the period from July to December of this year, in which it achieved a reduction in the cost of the computer leasing service.
The new contract will be in force from July 1 to December 31 for a minimum amount of 15 million pesos, which will be erugated monthly in payments of 2 million 500 thousand pesos, according to the information provided by the social communication area.
The agreed amount means a 23% reduction in what Profeco had paid for the same service in 2019 and in the first half of this year.
