translated from Spanish: Senator from Urresti (PS) says General Rozas “should be outside the institution”

The senator of the Socialist Party Alfonso de Urresti commented on the formalization of Claudio Crespo, the main defendant for shooting Gustavo Gatica in the vicinity of Plaza Baquedano in the midst of the social outburst.
De Urresti told CNN Chile that he hopes that everything that happened will be investigated and not only the fact of violence itself, the shooting, he commented, but “the manipulation, the adulteration of a chamber that is precisely for the citizen’s safe,” he added.
Regarding the ongoing investigation, De Urresti noted that “I think it is very important. It has been delayed, but an aquecious investigation has been done.”
The Socialist parliamentarian also referred to the institution’s decision to christen the Academy of Police Sciences as Rodolfo Stange, former general of the Military Board and charged with the Degollados case. “It is an obvious example of an absolute uncontrolled management in Carabineros, which is not only explained in these criminal acts of these tremendously serious wrongdoings that caused a citizen to lose sight (…) but also with that brutal out-of-law that we saw in the week of naming the police institute with the name of a former member of the Military Board,” he said.
For Urresti, the decision was a “provocation to the victims of the Degollados Case” and noted that the government should ask for the resignation of the general director of Carabineros, Mario Rozas, after this failed tribute.
“General Rozas should already be outside the institution with an effective resignation from the government on duty,” he said.
