“In the face of evidence, it can be said that the proposed cut jeopardizes the fulfilment of the INE’s constitutional duty, as it is not possible to ensure the development of the electoral process under security conditions, both for the staff of the Institute and for the citizens of polling stations and voters. Similarly, despite the Institute’s efforts to reduce the costs of the People’s Consultation, the legislature does not provide for any recourse to this exercise of citizen participation,” says the INE.

According to the Draft Egress Budget of the Federation 2021 (PPEF 2021), the INE requested 29,189 million pesos, of which 7,226 million pesos will be for the financing of national political parties.
As for the operation of the Institute as well as for the organization of the Federal Electoral Process 2020-2021 and the People’s Consultation commanded by the SCJN, the INE requires 21,963 million 190,627 pesos.
The consultation would cost 1.499 million 392,669 pesos.
