“If you were wondering what I was doing 22 before ‘Soul’, we brought you the answer,” with this eye-catching Disney Plus ad announced the release of a short film that, as we told you first, tells us more about the character. The platform confirmed the release of “22 Against Earth”, a spin-off short film from the Oscar-nominated film, which will feature the experiences of the soul (with original voice by Tina Fey), before meeting Joe Gardner (played by actor Jamie Foxx).
The short film will be directed by Kevin Nolting, who has a career of work on Pixar, and decided to compose a piece that would give even more transcendence to the character. “When we made Soul, we wondered why a new soul that doesn’t want to live on Earth, ends up being the soul of the film. ‘ 22 Against Earth’ is an opportunity to explore some of the unanswered questions we had about the reasons of 22 to be so cynical. I’m pretty cynical, so the theme seemed perfect to me,” he says in a statement broadcast by Disney+.
