Even as the vaccination campaign continues to advance in Argentina, the second wave of COVID-19 continues to hit the country despite the decline in daily numbers of new infections. And, according to the reports of the Ministry of Health of the Nation, there was an increase of 9% in the average daily deaths from coronavirus compared to the last week.
In this regard, the province of Buenos Aires is the jurisdiction where the main focus of deaths from coronavirus is located: during the last week the average number of daily deaths increased by 18%, while in CABA by 3% and, in the rest of the country, by 2%. In fact, of the 669 deaths that correspond to the last day, 361 occurred in the province of Buenos Aires.This Friday at 23:59 the DNU signed by the Executive Branch weeks ago will expire and, during the day of today, the authorities will evaluate what will be the measures with which the course of the rest of June will be mapped out. Last Thursday, Cabinet Chief Santiago Cafiero held meetings with his provincial and city counterparts, Carlos Bianco and Felipe Miguel, respectively, and then, together with Health Minister Carla Vizzotti, they led a virtual meeting with epidemiologists to outline how the second wave has had an impact in recent weeks.
