translated from Spanish: Sheinbaum removes Florencia Serranía from the direction of metro CDMX

Florencia Serranía leaves the general direction of the STC Metro of Mexico City, in his place was appointed Guillermo Calderón Aguilera, until today director of Electric Transport.
“We appreciate the effort and commitment you have put into the Mexico City Metro,” said head of government Claudia Sheinbaum after announcing the change on Monday.
The exit from Serranía comes almost two months after the collapse, on the night of May 3, of a part of the elevated viaduct, between Olivos and Tezonco stations, at the moment that a train – which was heading to the Tláhuac terminal – passed right at this point.

The accident left 26 people dead – one a minor among them – and 106 people injured.
In addition to the accident on Line 12, Serranía’s management was marked by the fire of a substation in the metro headquarters building, in the center of the city and the collision of two trains at tacubaya station.

Although the head of government had been questioned for weeks about whether she would remove Serrania from office, the president did not confirm or deny the change. In addition, Serranía was not present at the presentation of the preliminary opinion on the accident by the Norwegian company DNV.
Line 12, the task of the new director
After the announcement there was no round of questions, only a message from Calderón Aguilera, who will be one of those responsible for the rehabilitation of Line 12.
Calderon mentioned that the rehabilitation of the gold line will be led by Sheinbaum and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

He added that the priority will be the comprehensive care of the victims and their families, but he will give all the support to the Ministry of Works – in charge of the rehabilitation works – and to the Norwegian company that carries out the expert reports.
“At the end of the rehabilitation works of Line 12 we will guarantee an efficient and safe operation for the nearly 400 thousand passengers who used the line daily,” said the new director of the Metro.
