ME-O: “We call for a grand coalition to confront the far right”

Marco Enríquez-Ominami, presidential candidate of the Progressive Party, called for the creation of a “grand coalition” to face José Antonio Kast in the second round of the presidential elections. After acknowledging its defeat, ME-O announced “that we, evidently, call for a grand coalition to confront the far right.” I heard it recently (Kast), the extreme right already, pejoratively, refers to a good part of the hopes of a people, about education, peace. He has already put forward the values that we believe Chile rejected,” he added. The former parliamentarian assured that “I will not give up for you, for this people who believed in a reliable force for change. I will not give up on this fight from the heart.” He also summoned Deputy Gabriel Boric, maintaining that he “must unite us, you have the weight, intransigence does not work. The extreme right is not beaten in general with the extreme left, in general the extreme right always wins when there is extreme left.” In the same vein, he stressed that “if you (Boric) do not join, you will lose. If you don’t join, we will lose. If you remain uncompromising, you will prove right-wing extremism right-wing right-wing.” I invite you, Deputy, to show that you can give governability. I sincerely congratulate you, the people chose you,” said Enríquez-Ominami.It should be remembered that with 91.52% of the tables counted, José Antonio Kast and Gabriel Boric will compete in the second round, on December 19, to become the next President of the Republic.
