Servel calls the “restraint” in the face of the second round and asks that proxies give “a good behavior”

A call to have a “good behavior”, as well as not to transform “each vote into a war” is what the president of the Electoral Service (Servel), Andrés Tagle, proposes to the representatives of the different candidates for the presidency for the second round of this Sunday, December 19.
From the Servel they hope that the election that faces José Antonio Kast (Christian Social Front) and Gabriel Boric (Apruebo Dignidad) will be competitive, as well as it is expected that there will be a good citizen participation to the point of surpassing the record of last year’s plebiscite. This scenario has raised in both commands the call to register to be a proxy of the table, since it is predicted that it will be a close election and therefore each vote cast must be “defended”.
In this context, the Servel has asked the representatives of the table “a good behavior” and that the members of the table are respected, just as each vote does not become a conflictive moment, since there are solutions contemplated by law in case of an objected vote.
Tagle was clear with the attributions of the people who will be in this work: “The Servel values the presence of proxies, it is a primary element in an election, because they make citizen control. That is why they are contemplated in the law and contain all their rights.”
“Your right to be at the table; their right to have their inclusion at the bureau recorded in the opening minutes; their right to review the identification of voters, that their vote is secret; their right to leave objections in the record of the count and during the count they have the right to object to the votes,” added the president of the Servel.
He was also clear in pointing out that the representatives of the table must take into account that each vote objected to is counted in favor of the candidate who has the preference, but is kept in a different envelope leaving the fact on record.
