The government approved its own Personal Property reform by one vote

The Frente de Todos achieved a slight revenge in the Chamber of Deputies after the defeat registered last Friday in the vote for the Budget, when on Tuesday it approved the reform of Personal Property by 127 votes in favor and 126 against. Last Thursday, in the same marathon session in which the 2022 Budget was rejected, the opposition managed to twist his arm and force him to deal with the project that had the approval of the Senate, where it was presented by the official Carlos Caserio, from Córdoba.

With 127 affirmative votes, 126 negative and 0 abstentions, the amendment of article 24 of the Personal Property Tax Law, on exemptions, is approved.#UniendoVoces pic.twitter.com/HRQQGqDGo9 — Argentine Deputies (@DiputadosAR)

This provided to increase from 2 to 6 million pesos the minimum taxable to pay and go from $ 18 to $ 30 the value of a home exempt from paying. However, the ruling party presented its own project that maintained the modification of the taxable minimum but increases the rate from 1.25% to 1.50% for assets greater than 100 million pesos. It also increases the rate for goods registered abroad to 2.25% and provides for an update of the minimum non-taxable for inflation.  >

Faced with these modifications, Together for Change and the Federal Interbloc decided to oppose the government’s project, in line with the oppostiora campaign promise of “not increasing taxes.” The government achieved the necessary votes with accompaniments of blocs and the Left prevailed in a vote for the heart attack. Now it will return to the Senate, which according to the chairman of the Budget Committee, Carlos Heller, will approve it on Wednesday 29.
