Joe Biden insulted a Fox reporter at a news conference

Joe Biden starred in a failed episode on Monday. In the middle of a press conference, the president of the United States called a journalist who had just asked him a question believing that the microphone was off as a “stupid son of a bitch”. The incident occurred at the White House as part of a photo shoot attended by several representatives of local media. Among them, Peter Doocy, a journalist for the Fox News signal known for having a descent aligned with Republicanism and an ally of Biden’s successor, Donald Trump.

Seconds after the end of the meeting, Doocy asked the president if he believed inflation could represent a political advantage. “It’s a big advantage, more inflation,” Biden replied wryly. Then, believing the phone was off, the president muttered: “What a stupid son of a bitch,” according to the AFP news agency. After the news circulated, Biden was bombarded with criticism from Republicans. For his part, Doocy, known for the incisive tone of his questions, took it with humor: “No one has yet verified the veracity of his words,” he said on his channel minutes later.

The insulted reporter later recounted that Biden had called him within an hour and said, “It’s nothing personal, buddy.” Monday’s incident contrasts with the trumpeted kindness and affability of this president who is shown in the antipodes of Trump, known for his excesses of language.

According to AFP, the misstep of the 79-year-old Democratic head of state responds to the fact that he faces a low popularity index among public opinion and tries to support his presidency. Specifically, his government’s inflation was the highest recorded in the last 40 years. With less than ten months to go until the midterm elections, the Democratic wing expects it to be a complicated election.
