Germán Martínez: “I’m going to do the impossible for Máximo to vote with us”

In the framework of the previous debate for the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the president of the Bloc of the Frente de Todos (FdT) in the Chamber of Deputies, Gerardo Martínez, said today that he is entering the “final stretch” of the negotiation with the international organization and affirmed that he will do “everything possible so that Máximo (Kirchner) votes with us.” After the resignation of the presidency of the bloc, in the Frente de Todos it is not confirmed that the son of the former president votes positively. Faced with this situation, he said: “I am going to do the impossible so that Máximo votes with us,” after revealing that they have already been “chatting things with an open dialogue,” during an interview with CNN Radio.

“I told him, ‘I don’t know if I’m going to achieve it but I’m going to do the impossible for you to vote with us,'” said the head of the pro-government caucus in Deputies, within the framework of the negotiation for the debt contracted during the administration of former President Mauricio Macri.De this way, the Government hopes to present the details of the understanding to Congress before March 1, date of the opening of the ordinary sessions. In this context, the ruling party explained that it is “absolutely reasonable that there are different views” in “a political coalition”: “A political coalition is not satisfied with those who think 100% the same, if we all thought the same a coalition would not be necessary,” he synthesized. We are also going to clarify doubts of comrades who still do not have a definition in this regard,” he said and closed: “We are very clear about what the president (Alberto Fernández), the minister (of Economy, Martín) Guzmán has told us and soon we will have the final text.”

While, finally, he referred to the support of the United States: “That is complemented by a multipolar look, which leads us to a strategy of multilateralism and relates us to all the countries that make up the political bodies of the Fund, and I think that the task that is being carried out clearly goes in that direction and I think we will have a lot of support.”
