Minister of Education sets for the first half of April national day of non-sexist education after cases of harassment in schools

The Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Ávila, in conversation with Meganoticias, announced that in the first half of April they hope to hold the national day of non-sexist education, following the complaints made by secondary students, who have suffered harassment and abuse in the school context, both by students and teachers.
The Secretary of State reiterated that in addition to that, a working group will be formed to advance in the installation of comprehensive sexuality education. “We have to think that this is a problem of a formative nature, we have to frame it in the field of education. If we think that it is only an act of rape, of harassment that has to end in justice – and that it can also be – we are losing sight of the underlying problem that is the comprehensive non-sexist sex education that we need to incorporate into our curriculum, in our language, in the daily interactions that occur within the establishments. ” Said.
“It seems quite natural to me that the students not only manifest themselves but also make demands of the adult world of how we can solve these issues within the school, but also indicating some elements of responsibility of society as a whole,” he added.
But also the Minister of Education criticized in harsh terms the handling he had in his passage through the Mineduc Joaquín Lavín, assuring that “the worst moment perhaps in our history in the field of sex education, is contradictory to what one might think, while he was Minister of Education Joaquín Lavín, where in the background what was opened was seven plans, a kind of absolute freedom.”
The head of the Mineduc also announced that this Monday he will announce announcements related to the covid protocol and the extension of the school day.
