Mexico began this week with 657 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 new deaths registered, according to the most recent report from the federal Ministry of Health.
Both figures reflect the downward trend in the behavior of the pandemic in the country.
With the most recent statistics, the number of accumulated cases reached 5 million 651 thousand 533, while that of deceased people stood at 322 thousand 761.
The number of estimated active cases stood at 8,657, another indicator of the pandemic’s decline.
Active cases are those considered the engine of the pandemic because they represent people who had symptoms in the last 14 days and who still have the capacity to infect.
Mexico is going through its fourth wave of infections, although authorities maintain that the disease is receding.
Next Friday, the federal Ministry of Health must present the new risk traffic light for the entire country.
The current traffic light has all 32 states in green.
