Deputies endorse sanctions for attempted femicide

The Chamber of Deputies endorsed with 474 votes in favor, zero votes against and zero abstentions, the amendments to the National Code of Criminal Procedure, the National Law on Criminal Enforcement and the Federal Criminal Code, in terms of punishing attempted femicide.
“The attempted crime of femicide shall be punishable by imprisonment which shall not be less than two thirds of the minimum penalty provided for the crime consummated. The person responsible for the crime of femicide or the attempt of this, in addition to the aforementioned sanctions, the judge must also sentence him to pay reparation for the damage in favor of the victim, “says the opinion.
In addition, the reforms toughen the penalties for those who commit femicide and add that, in case of attempt, the aggressor will not be able to carry out his process in freedom and the measure of informal preventive detention and the inadmissibility of probation, early release, preparatory release and the substitution of the penalty for cases of consummated or attempted femicide must be applied.
