Suicide, main line in Yolanda Martínez case: NL prosecutor’s office

The Attorney General’s Office of Nuevo León reported that the main line of investigation in the case of Yolanda Martínez Cadena points to the suicide of the 26-year-old.
The deputy prosecutor of the state, Luis Enrique Orozco Suárez, indicated that the theory of a femicide has been weakened as the investigation and analysis of expert evidence progress; reiterated that this is not yet a conclusion.
“A detailed initial analysis has been made, it is not conclusive, so far the line of research oriented to a suicide has been consolidated in a greater way,” he said.

At a press conference, he said that an inspection was made in the vacant lot where the body of the young woman was located and a glass of unicel with a written message was found.

He indicated that a container that could contain aluminum phosphide and another with a substance that could be chlorpyrifos were also located; in both cases, tests are performed to determine the degree of toxicity and whether they were in Yolanda’s body.

He pointed out that the body of the young woman did not present injuries or signs of torture, although the autopsy opinion is in process; he indicated that no shell casings, weapons, ropes or instruments to attack were found instead, nor were belongings stolen.
Yolanda Martínez Cadena disappeared on March 31 in the Constituyente neighborhood in the municipality of San Nicolás de los Garza, in Nuevo León.
