Brazil: 56 killed by heavy rains in Pernambuco

At the moment, a total of 56 deaths were counted in the midst of the serious storm that is suffering the state of Pernambuco, northeast of Brazil. Another 56 people are missing, according to the Civil Defense report. The updated bulletin in relation to the climatic and building tragedy also reported 3,957 evacuees and 593 people rescued alive by relief teams from the rubble and in the waters. The authorities of Pernambuco decreed the state of emergency in new municipalities, due to the rains, avalanches and floods that are happening in the region. The government of the area reported that the most critical points are seven landslides of hills that destroyed favelas and neighborhoods, as a result of the force of the torrents. For his part, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro promised to visit the state of Pernambuco on Monday to internalize the tragedy. A delegation of the national government arrived this Sunday in the disaster zone: the Minister of Regional Development, Daniel Ferreira, the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, the Minister of Citizenship, Ronaldo Benton, and the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Brito.
