Alberto Fernández: “YPF has a production record as it has not shown for years”

The president, Alberto Fernández, highlighted the results of YPF during the event he led for the celebration of the 100 years of the state energy company, which took place on the Tecnópolis property. In addition, the president emphasized: “we have a record of gas and oil production as YPF had not shown for years.” During a speech that lasted just under half an hour, the President referred to YPF’s productive matrix, the green hydrogen that everyone told him about in Europe and the war and the possibility that opened up to export raw materials. The president said that by 2030 it is projected that the state company “will extract 140 cubic meters of gas” and produce “700,000 barrels of oil,” and that “the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline will allow a lot of gas to reach the center of the country.” In turn, he recalled his predecessors in the government were the ones who caused “investment to fall by half” in exploration and exploitation of Argentine hydrocarbon deposits. In a critical speech towards the opposition he highlighted: “Between 2015 and 2019 YPF was ceding its space in the market in favor of others; almost half of the investment made to exploit these deposits fell and the only thing that grew in YPF was the debt; in these times when anti-politics grows effortlessly (…) we must remember that those who crush on their discouragement did those things”.

Returning to the speech of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, he pointed out that “governing without borrowing is an act of responsibility,” and that “when a country goes into debt it loses freedom,” recalling the words of former president Néstor Kirchner. However, he asked “not to repeat old experiences” and stressed that “Argentina has an opportunity to have a great future” and claimed “to work for unity”, the latter in relation to his party, which during the last months through statements in different media stoked the internal. In relation to the outside, the President stressed that during his tour in Europe, the main leaders were “all interested in green hydrogen, everyone told me about lithium”, in a shift that is given towards a use of renewable energies, for which Argentina has great potential. In addition, he ratified the conviction to build the necessary infrastructure so that Argentina is prepared for a future global demand for food and energy, as a result of the war in Ukraine.” I am one of those who believe that making money is not an indecency, what is indecent is that the profit remains in the hands of few and poverty is distributed in millions, “concluded the President of the Nation.
