Changes in the relationship with the US
From the National Palace, López Obrador said that the relationship with the United States government is good since it has always occurred within the framework of respect for Mexico’s sovereignty.
“Yes, things have changed. Before there was the so-called Merida Plan and our sovereignty was violated as it happened when deliberately in a program called Fast and Furious the entry of weapons from the United States was allowed in an agreement between the governments and those weapons caused loss of human lives. That is no longer allowed,” the president said.
In addition, the president stressed that the United States government cannot act on its own or order what Mexico must carry out in security policy.
