Chile beats Bolivia with Lara’s double and is still alive in the Copa America

The Chilean team thrashed Bolivia 5-0 on Sunday with an exhibition of Francisca Lara on the fourth day of Group A, and stayed alive in the Women’s Copa America, in which the Green culminated its participation with four defeats in as many matches.
With today’s result at the Pascual Guerrero stadium in the Colombian city of Cali, Chile ascended to second place in Group A with six points, the same as the leader Colombia and Paraguay who are third, while Ecuador, which today faces the hosts, is fourth with three units.
José Antonio Letelier’s team came out to sweep from the initial whistle and subdued some rivals who had many difficulties to defend the Chilean attacks, including a goal annulled to Javiera Grez for out of place in the first moments.
However, the 1-0 came very quickly, in the 6th minute, in a very good collective play in which Daniela Zamora sent a creeping center from the right side that reached Lara, who first took a left-footed shot impossible to tackle for Kimberly López.

Just seven minutes later, La Roja increased the lead on a corner kick collected by Karen Araya and in which Salvatierra tried to clear the ball but ended up sending it to the back of his own goal.
The Chilean hurricane continued to do damage from the sides and that was how the 3-0 arrived, in a play in which ‘Pancha’ Lara sent a center and López, without much mark, celebrated the 3-0 in the 16th minute.
The intensity of the Chilean attacks decreased, but the 4-0 came before the break, to the 44, in another play on the sides, this time on the left from where Valentina Navarrete sent a center for Lara who, as a forward, headed to overcome the resistance of López.
With the match already defined, the Bolivians tried to attack in the second half and had their only clear chance on a free kick collected by Samantha Alurralde in the 53rd that crashed into the horizontal of Christiane Endler’s goal.

Chile regained control of the match and increased the difference in a great play on the right side of María José Rojas, who sent a center for Valencia, who without opposition, headed to celebrate their first goal in the tournament.
Letelier’s team will define its classification next Wednesday when it faces Colombia on the last day and waiting for what happens in the Ecuador-Paraguay match that same day.
