Explosion at munitions factory leaves six injured in Morelos

An explosion inside the Industrias Tecnos munitions factory in the town of Ahuatepec, Morelos, left at least six people injured.
According to the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Morelos, the explosion occurred at 12:40 p.m. on Friday, on line 22 of arming and mixing explosive cartridges.
The factory is located on the Cuernavaca-Tepoztlán highway, so emergency teams attended the explosion and transferred four injured people to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) for assessment and follow-up, while two more were treated at the facilities.

“The area remains delimited, without any risk being reported to the population surrounding the facilities; also, the corresponding investigation will be carried out to know the causes that led to the accident,” The Morelos authorities explained in a statement.
The governor of the state, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, said that those affected and their families are being treated, and that the necessary emergency bodies have been deployed to address the situation.

Elements of the Army, National Guard (GN), State Commission of Public Security Ces Morelos, Rescue Squadron and Medical Emergencies (ERUM), Red Cross delegation Morelos, Civil Protection and, as well as Firefighters of Cuernavaca arrived at the place.
