Piqueteros will camp until tomorrow in Plaza de Mayo as a protest

Militants of leftist organizations grouped in the Piquetera Unit (UP) will hold until tomorrow a camp in the Plaza de Mayo of Buenos Aires, where today they carried out a massive mobilization and protest in demand of assistance for retirees and monotributistas. ” This camp is a fight for wages. We camp until tomorrow morning and there we will decide,” announced the leader of the Polo Obrero Eduardo Belliboni to the press after having delivered the petition. The protest, among other demands, was aimed at rejecting the decision of the Ministry of Social Development to audit the management of the Empower Work program.Official sources indicated that a piquetera delegation was received by economy officials and authorities of the Undersecretariat of Social Economy of the Ministry of Social Development who moved to the portfolio led by Sergio Massa.According to spokesmen for those portfolios, UP asked for the payment of a bonus with the characteristics of the Emergency Family Income (IFE) and greater access to Empower Work.In addition, it was agreed that the Minister of Social Development, Juan Zabaleta, will receive at the end of the month a delegation from UP and that in the coming weeks “meetings at a technical level” will be held with other officials. Among several demands of the sector is the payment of a Minimum Living and Mobile Wage of “105,000 pesos” and a bonus for retirees and monotributistas. We ask for the universalization of the Empower Work and the increase of the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Wage, which has an impact on the increase of the Empower, “said UP. It is worth mentioning that UP is made up of the Polo Obrero, MTR-Votamos Luchar, the CUBA-MTR, the Bloque Piquetero Nacional, the Agrupación Armando Conciencia, the Organización 17 de Noviembre, the MTR Teresa Rodríguez and the Movimiento Territorial Liberación (MTL-Rebelde), among others.
