The City Council of Valparaíso approved last week, and unanimously, to send an official letter to President Gabriel Boric to request urgent measures in support of the local transport service.
The document proposes to redesign or apply complementary measures to the current network of routes for the towns of Placilla and Laguna Verde. The text also points to financing, via the Regional Government, for the acquisition of at least two buses to solve the “critical situations” of the aforementioned localities.
“To the lack of response from both the Seremi of Transport and the Minister of Transport (…) We hope that the President will be open to considering our proposals and put in short-term measures to solve the crisis that has been spreading for a long time,” said the mayor of Valparaíso, Jorge Sharp.
For his part, the Seremi of Transport of the Region of Valparaíso, Benigno Retamal, said that they have “worked throughout this year to accelerate the processes that allow us to have more and better services. Along with this, we are working with neighborhood groups in Valparaíso and other communes to meet their specific needs.”
