President of the PS by constitutional agreement: “If we have learned anything from the process that ended, it is that as important as the result was also the path”

In the midst of the negotiations of the political parties to channel the second constituent period, the president of the Socialist Party, Paulina Vodanovic, reflected that both the path and the result of the process are equally important to achieve pacts for a new Constitution.
In that line, he assured that “if we have learned anything from the process that ended and failed on September 4, it is that as important as the result was also the path.” “If this process is not one of dialogue, we will not be able to have a social pact,” he said in a conversation with Cooperativa.
This implies “agreements and that we all put ourselves at the same table to talk.” Otherwise, “it will be very difficult to have a good Constitution,” which in his opinion, “are neither left nor right.”
“Good constitutions are in accordance with the democratic progress of the country, and they deliver to the laws the implementation and detail of the constitutions themselves,” the socialist leader added.
Proposal by Chile Vamos
On the other hand, Vodanovic addressed the proposal of Chile Vamos so that the body in charge of drafting the new Constitution is 50 members, as in the Senate.
Given this, he said that “the number seems scarce to us,” so they are working on a joint proposal – which includes the DC – to determine the mechanism of the process.
“Without this transversality, it will not be possible to advance in the great and necessary changes that are required in Chile,” he said.
