President Boric condolences for death of leader of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo and highlights his “struggle for truth and justice”

President Gabriel Boric lamented the death of the historic president of the Argentine association Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, Hebe de Bonafini, who died this Sunday at the age of 93.
“My deepest condolences to the Argentine people and especially to the family of Hebe de Bonafini, founder of Mothers of Plaza de Mayo,” the President said today on his Twitter account.

A group of women formed the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo during the Argentine dictatorship (1976-1983) to learn about the fate of children and other detainees disappeared by the military regime.
Bonafini died in a hospital in the city of La Plata, in the province of Buenos Aires, where she had been hospitalized for a few days.
Two sons and the daughter-in-law of the human rights activist disappeared during the dictatorship.
