Social program ‘My scholarship to start’ is already constitutional

The Congress of Mexico City approved, with 47 votes in favor and 11 against, the opinion that modifies the Constitution of the capital to include as a right social programs My scholarship to start and The School is ours.

According to the opinion, “all children enrolled in public or private basic education schools will have the right to have a scholarship that will be called Welfare for girls and boys.”

Regarding the School is ours program, the congress approved that in each fiscal year, the educational establishments of basic public education in Mexico City will have a specific budget to remodel the facilities or build what the schools require.
“These resources may not be diminished, in real terms, with respect to what has been allocated in the immediately preceding fiscal year.”
The head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum thanked the Congress, whose majority is Morena, for the approval of the opinion.

This discussion takes place just when the head of government has expressed her intentions to run for the Presidency of Mexico.

Mi b eca para Empezar is a program that delivers 870 pesos per month to preschool students, one thousand pesos to primary school students and one thousand 050 to secondary students.
