CABA: positive coronavirus cases doubled in a week

The Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) said that, according to the weekly part of the Buenos Aires health portfolio, 11,941 new cases of coronavirus were registered, a figure that practically doubles those reported last week in the district that barely exceeded 6 thousand.According to the official weekly report on the health situation of COVID-19 that disseminated the data collected between December 5 and 11, 9 new deaths were recorded as a result of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 13,412 since the pandemic broke out. The official figures that warn of 11,941 new cases of COVID-19 in the district, show a clear increase in the number of positives that, during the past week was 6,018 and raises the total number of positive cases to 1,186,604 of infections since records are kept. The Buenos Aires health portfolio also said that the aforementioned figure corresponds to cases of residents in CABA, however, in the different health centers of the district there were also 6,563 positive cases of “non-residents”, a figure that almost triples the 2,652 that had been reported last week. The case fatality rate, that is, the percentage of deaths over positive diagnoses, stood at 1.13%, while the average age of the deceased remains at 76.2 years.
