Senate to vote on Monday ratification of Marta Herrera as National Prosecutor

The Senate will vote on Monday on the ratification of the lawyer and director of the Specialized Anticorruption and Legal Unit of the Public Ministry, Marta Herrera, as the new National Prosecutor. This was reported by the senator and president of the Constitution Committee of the Upper House, Matías Walker (Democratic collective).
“We are going to summon the Constitution Commission on Monday, here in Valparaíso, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., because on Monday afternoon, and we have agreed with the president of the Senate (Álvaro Elizalde), the plenary session of the Upper House would take place in order to ratify the appointment,” Walker explained in a video.

President Gabriel Boric nominated Marta Herrera as the new National Prosecutor on Wednesday. Herrera must make a presentation to the Senate’s Constitution Committee and then the Upper House will vote on its ratification. For approval, you need a quorum of 2/3.
Recall that the Senate rejected the government’s previous letter to National Prosecutor Jose Morales.
