Del Mazo asks to investigate case of seller Jorge Claudio

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo Del Mazo, promised to review the case of Jorge Claudio Mendoza, a tamale seller who was killed on December 24 by a driver in an alleged state of drunkenness in Cuautitlán Izcalli.
This, three days after the alleged responsible for the death of the seller, Ken Omar “N”, was released by the authorities of the State of Mexico because the crime charged does not merit unofficial preventive detention.
On December 27, the Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico reported that after reviewing the video recording of the moment in which the events occurred, as well as the taking of his statement, it was determined that the crime is culpable homicide.

Invited to the president’s morning conference, Governor Alejandro del Mazo said he will speak this Friday with the prosecutor of the State of Mexico to know the reasons for the decision and determine a response from the authorities.

“We must review the case thoroughly to know why the Public Ministry determined this and I would ask the prosecutor of the State of Mexico to be able to inform them what can proceed and of course it does not merit this situation that this resolution has been determined. Today I ask the State Prosecutor’s Office to issue the information and to make it known,” he told the media.
Meanwhile, President López Obrador said he trusts in Del Mazo’s commitment to receive the relatives of Jorge Claudio and that justice is done.

However, police from the State of Mexico went to free the road, which led to clashes with the demonstrators.

Relatives of Jorge Claudio Mendoza have indicated that they have not received any type of reparation after the death of the seller.
One of his sons even said he received information that Ken Omar, a released driver, fled his home with his family.
The hearing where the agent of the Public Ministry will make the formulation of the accusation against the driver is scheduled for February 1, 2023.
