House Commission suppressed key point of critical infrastructure project and Monsalve withdrew from the instance

The Citizen Security Commission of the Chamber of Deputies yesterday suppressed a key point of the critical infrastructure project. This caused the Minister of the Interior (s), Manuel Monsalve, to withdraw from the instance.
At the session, the committee was voting on 48 indications. In that context, they approved the deletion of a key article of the initiative.

The court eliminated the following paragraph: “the chiefs designated for the command of the forces shall have the responsibility for safeguarding public order in the determined areas, in accordance with the instructions established by the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security in the supreme decree issued in accordance with the law.”
After the commission rejected that point, Monsalve left the room. “As the bill is being approved, it takes away the possibility for northern Chileans to collaborate in public order tasks. That is why I have withdrawn from the commission, but the government is not withdrawing from the legislative task,” he said.
“Chileans living in the north, what are they asking for? Let there be collaboration from the Armed Forces,” the authority added.
In turn, he pointed out that “it is a project that we expect and we call on Parliament to be in the Chamber of the Chamber of Deputies tomorrow, precisely so that the Chamber, which is sovereign, can replenish within the framework of the content of the bill, the power for the Armed Forces to collaborate in public order tasks.”
“I want to call on opposition parliamentarians to have consistency between what is said and what is done. Between what they say and what they vote, because it is not understandable that every day opposition parliamentarians complain about the presence of FF. AA in the north and when it is appropriate to vote, remove the possibility, “he added.
