The program, online and free, seeks to arouse interest and expand the opportunities of adolescents in the areas of technology to discover all the possibilities that this area has for them. In this first edition of the year there will be quotas for 500 young people from the region. For six weeks, participants will learn to identify issues and create digital solutions to make a positive impact in their communities. With the guidance and accompaniment of pedagogical facilitators, they will develop key skills to assume an active role in the use and creation of technology, and work in teams with colleagues of different ages and countries. In addition, they will meet women from the industry and their academic and professional careers; will participate in panels, workshops and talks.”In this edition of Conectados we incorporate a meeting oriented to the use of digital platforms for learning, to accompany the participants in their first steps, and another meeting on the challenges and potentialities of teamwork in technology” said Carla Arias, leader of Training and Development of Girls in Technology, adding: “These tools will allow participants not only to acquire technical skills, but also the skills necessary to develop solutions critically and together with other people, enriching the diversity of profiles of the technological ecosystem.“. The program addresses three axes: 1) Agile mindset and problem solving; 2) Project development; 3) Communication and digital marketing. “Through Conectados we seek that girls take a broader view of technology and that they can project themselves in different positions and roles from shared experiences with women referents of Mercado Libre. Technology offers a range of possibilities and Connected is the seedbed to ignite that interest and convey that there is a space for them“, said Guadalupe Marín, Director of Sustainability of Mercado Libre. In 2022, more than 1300 young people from 6 countries in the region designed 140 technological projects with social impact. The solutions created by the participants seek to solve problems related to issues such as environment, education, gender and health. From their participation in the program, 92% of young women knew options for training and professional development in technology and 87% discovered that they like to study, research and work on technology issues. In the last two years, more than 2700 girls from Latin America developed 370 technological projects thanks to their time at Conectadas. Conectados is a free program, with limited places, and the call will be open until 27/3.
