Morelia, Michoacán. – In what is clearly an act of justice, the Legislative Branch recognized the tradition of Michoacan bakers, incorporating their trade into the Law of Promotion and Artisanal Development, said Deputy Rocío Beamonte Romero, member of the Commission of Industry, Commerce and Services of the LXXV Legislature of the State Congress, according to a statement.
The legislator celebrated that on Tuesday the LXXV Local Legislature approved the opinion by which the Law is amended in order to incorporate this office, recognizing the cultural and economic work of Michoacan bakers.
“Once the Plenary approved this day the reform, the Secretariat of Economic Development should promote among the institutions of training for the work of Michoacán, the learning of the traditional bakery.”
She recalled that the opinion was prepared by the initiative promoted by Deputy César Palafox Quinero, to which she subscribed along with seven other members of the State Legislature.
“The traditional and artisanal bread industry has been underestimated, since around 4,500 bakeries have been registered, generating more than 20,000 direct jobs.”
