TO INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES AND PEOPLES
TO THE MEDIA
TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC
TO THE GOVERNMENT OF MICHOACÁN

K’eri Kunkorhekua Iretecheri, the Supreme Indigenous Council of Michoacán #CSIM; Free and autonomous council, independent of governments, political parties and religious orders, made up of civil, communal and traditional authorities of 70 indigenous communities, we collectively declare the following:
Once again, on instructions from the municipal president of Erongarícuaro Juan Calderón Castillejo, through threats, arbitrariness and violence, his workers and political operators have prevented for the second time the Electoral Institute of Michoacán (IEM), to carry out the free, prior and informed consultation, so that all the inhabitants of San Francisco Uricho, decide if they wanted to self-govern and administer the direct budget.
We categorically denounce that the direct and intellectual responsible for the sabotage, suspension of consultations and violence that is being experienced in the community, is C. Juan Calderón, who with public resources, municipal employees, government programs and the local police, has been responsible for dividing the community and violating the collective rights of indigenous peoples. In addition to the fact that he had previously financed and coordinated shock groups in the community of Jarácuaro, with the aim of preventing the community from being autonomous, for what we maintain will go down in history, as the worst president that the municipality of Erongarícuaro has had.
We make an energetic call to the Congress of the State of Michoacán, to rule on the request for revocation of mandate against Juan Calderón, signed by more than a thousand comuneras and comuneros of the municipality.
Finally, we make an attentive and respectful call to the native peoples and communities to undertake a day of struggle against the municipal president of Erongarícuaro Juan Calderón Castillejo, we will not allow any municipal president to transgress the human and collective rights of indigenous communities.
Long live the free self-determination of indigenous peoples!
