Morelia, Michoacán. – In a meeting with cooperatives and indigenous communities of the Lake region, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla reported that a budget expansion will be authorized to clean and maintain the navigation channels of Lake Patzcuaro, according to a statement.
At the meeting, which also involved the Secretary of Environment, Alejandro Méndez, and the municipal president of Pátzcuaro, Julio Arreola Vázquez, the president announced an investment of 11 million pesos to acquire the machinery requested to carry out these works.
The above, after mentioning that the previous administration stopped maintaining the lake and currently, 40 percent is contaminated by plague of water lily and azolve, thus preventing fishing and tourism activities in the region.

For his part, the mayor showed willingness to coordinate rescue actions of Lake Patzcuaro, noting that it is urgent to address the problem of the body of water that represents an important natural resource for the state.
While the community and cooperative representatives of the lake region, thanked the governor for his support and said they were ready to collaborate in the rescue of the basin to enhance the productive development of the localities.
