Morelia, Michoacán.- Deputy Roberto Reyes Cosari presented Initiative with Draft Decree through which various articles of different laws are reformed, in order to invalidate the requirement of having Mexican nationality by birth to access public office.
Before the Legislative Plenary, Reyes Cosari argued that nationality is considered one of the essential human rights of people, since it implies access to an important set of guarantees that the State must safeguard.
To this end, the initiative proposes reforms to various articles of the Law on Notaries; State Human Rights Commission Act; the Social Assistance Act; the Civil Pensions Act; the Organic Law of the Michoacan University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo.
Also, the Organic Law and Procedures of the Congress; the Law of the State System of Public Security of Michoacán de Ocampo; and the Tax Administration Service Law, all of the State of Michoacán.
In order to achieve such harmonization, it is proposed to modify the wording of the phrase “Mexican by birth” to “Mexican or Mexican”, and to replace “Michoacan by birth” by “Michoacan or Michoacan”, in the sense of eliminating all the normative portions of the State regime, and giving access to all Mexican persons, whether by birth or by naturalization. to public officials, under the principle of equality and non-discrimination, and in turn to comply with the principle of gender equality that is necessary in the drafting of the normative texts contained in this reform project, highlights the initiative presented by Reyes Cosari.
