5 questions to Latingeisha for the presentation of his EP “Katana” in the new Matienzo

After releasing her EP “Katana”, Lara Jordan better known as Latingeisha puts a presentation date on this new material. It will be on Friday, August 18 at the new Matienzo Cultural Club (Juan B. Justo 2959) at 8.30 p.m. and to better enter his musical world from Filo.news We sent you 5 questions.1. Since when has your current sound been brewing?
My current sound is brewing since I started studying singing at age 11 until today, always in constant growth and training. At the end of school I began to study the career of Jazz Singing of the E.M.P.A where I found, studied and perfected the stylistic tools of the genre. At the same time throughout my childhood and adolescence I was nourished by a lot of music from the American urban scene such as hip hop of the 90s, R & B, disco and soul while at my parents’ house I listened to the poetry of the skinny Spinetta and the powerful voice of Mercedes Sosa. All these elements and influences make up my current sound.2. You are presenting “Katana” which has songs from “Ble$$Ed” but live, what difference in sound is there between one and the other?
In “Katana” we look for a live show sound, powerful and energetic. The distortions of the guitars and the heavy sound of the bass plus the strength of the backing vocals and drums create a very hardcore energy. The song shared by “BLE$$ED” and “Katana” is Poodle. This song in itself has a lot of strength for its narrative, it talks about the situation I lived with a producer who stole my songs.  The sound of the live perfectly captures the anger of the story, on the other hand, in the studio version I looked for a more classic hip-hop sound where what crosses is the edge of the lyrics and the art of sampling with oriental instruments.3. What analysis do you make of the current panorama of the Argentine urban music scene?
Personally I think we are in a very productive era, there are many people creating and contributing to urban music and genres such as trap in this country have become very successful at the mainstream level. However, sometimes I think that the offer is very limited in terms of what “sticks” it and tends to be repetitive and superficial. Today in the urban scene at the underground level, sounds and fusions are brewing that take risks and try to get out of doing “what hits”. It would be interesting to see a paradigm shift and for the media and especially radio to reflect the diversity of our culture.
4. How do you prepare for the show? What can the public expect from this date?
We are in everything you need to be for the show to be incredible, from the scenery, costumes, sound, visuals and even Katana merch, everything is thought with a lot of love and dedication. We are rehearsing a lot with the band and there is a visual concept of the whole show. The audience will find an exquisite audiovisual experience where the delicate is intertwined with the sharp in a very real story from beginning to end.5. What’s next in your career?
Right now we’re with my producer 81clfs working on my second solo album. In this album we will be able to find two totally different Latingeishas, one making its way into the national rap scene, and another developing its richer and musically androgynous face.Latingeisha presents its EP “Katana” on Friday, August 18 at the new Matienzo Cultural Club (Juan B. Justo 2959) at 8.30 p.m. You can buy your ticket from 1300 pesos by clicking here.
