Food up 8.7% in the past four weeks

This increase was led by meat that registered an increase of 4.7%, a situation that had been advanced by the increases that had occurred in the Concentrator Market of Cañuelas.En Meanwhile, vegetables verified an increase of 2.5%, while bakery products had a variation of 1.9%. The report revealed that ready-to-go meals rose by 1.5%, while dairy products and eggs rose by 1%, drinks and infusions by 0.4% and oils by 0.1%. When the variation of the last four weeks is studied, the ranking is led by bakeries, which register a strong jump of 16.8%. Nearby vegetables appear with 12.5%, while drinks to consume at home do so at 10%. The variations below double digits are: sugar (6.4%), oils (4.2%), meats (3.8%), dairy and eggs (3.7%). The only item with falls was fruits (-1.2%). The survey is carried out through web scraping where the prices of 8,000 foods and beverages offered in five supermarkets are evaluated. Weekly cuts occur on Wednesdays.
