Paredes debuted with an assist on his return to Roma

After confirming his return to Jose Mourinho’s Italian side after a chaotic transfer market, Leandro Paredes provided an assist for Roma’s 2-2 draw against Salernitana in his first match. Six years after his departure, the world champion with the Argentine National Team in Qatar officially returned to the Italian club in the debut in Serie A. Without the Argentine starting, Roma quickly found the lead 7 minutes into the first half after a brilliant cross from Bryan Cristante that dislodged the rival defense and left only Andrea Belotti, who crossed the ball and scored the first. However, the referee – through the VAR – annulled the play shortly after for a fine offside. Ten minutes later, Belotti received a long ball on the edge of the box, used his body to turn and settle and set up to put Roma ahead, this time properly enabled. Despite the constant attempts of Mourinho’s team, Guillermo Ochoa showed off in the goal of Salernitana, who found the equalizer ten minutes from the end of the first half. Three minutes into the complement, Antonio Candreva received a complicated ball inside the rival area and took a surprising and powerful shot to turn the score. Paredes’ entry in the 65th minute gave Roma a much-needed change of air for the game, and he became a fundamental piece for the tie. At 81′, the Argentine threw a center from the corner and, when the ball was closed, Belotti rose and headed sentencing the equality in the match. Without recent activity after being ruled out by Paris Saint Germain, Paredes returned to play an official match on Sunday and showed willingness to ask for the ball and set up play.
