75 Legislature will recognize the Heroic Military College in its Bicentennial

Morelia, Michoacán.- The Congress of Michoacán approved to inscribe with gold letters the name of the Heroic Military College, on the Wall of Honor of the Legislative Palace, in recognition of its almost 200 years of training officers with solid values and knowledge that lead them to fulfill their missions with leadership and principles of loyalty, courage and patriotism.
At the proposal of the Culture Commission, on the initiative of Deputy Adriana Hernández Iñiguez, the legislators of the 75th Legislature voted in favor of the Draft Decree in which it was clear that “if persistence is a commendable value, then the history of the Heroic Military College constitutes an epic worthy of being recovered for the present, to transmit it to the future.”
When addressing the rostrum to sustain her vote, legislator Adriana Hernández indicated that if the viability of a nation is measured from the solidity of its institutions, then the Mexican one is guaranteed its projection into the future, since it has the support of its military agencies, which time and again have given ample proof of their courage and nationalism. values that are transmitted to its members from their formative stage in the Heroic Military College.
“The Military College has been a hotbed of talent and discipline, of courage and capacity for innovation, as evidenced by the performance of its cadets and graduates in the face of foreign aggressions, internal revolts and catastrophes caused by the force of nature,” highlights the approved opinion.
This institution was founded on October 11, 1823, with the purpose that the cadets received an education that included “the necessary knowledge in the profession of weapon, from where the future generals graduate, those who will become the high commands of the National Defense “.
According to the times, the College is now an inclusive institution in which women already have a place, who can also make the defense of the homeland a life project, a noble aspiration that involves personal sacrifice for the sake of a higher good such as the viability of the Mexican State.
Likewise, admission is now subject to compliance with greater academic requirements, such as having a bachelor’s degree, unlike a few years ago when secondary studies were enough, the text points out.
Given this, the Culture and Arts Commission submitted to the consideration of the Legislative Plenary, the pertinence of recognizing the work of the institution as a forger of good men in the country, while its proponent, Adriana Hernández, stressed that in the midst of this uncertain environment full of dangers, there is the generosity and patriotism of the armed forces; and that the inscription with gold letters of the name of the Military College on the Wall of Honor of the legislative precinct, will represent a “permanent tribute to those who do so much for us at the risk of their own lives and with no more satisfaction than that of the duty fulfilled with the Homeland.”
