In the sights of the Legislative, citizen initiative to strengthen State Youth Council

Morelia, Michoacán.- Due to its value and importance in the development of Michoacán, the State Congress will analyze a citizen initiative that proposes the strengthening of the State Youth Council through a reform of current legislation, as reported in a statement.
Through the Youth and Sports Commission, as well as the president of the Board of Directors, Laura Ivonne Pantoja Abascal, the Legislative Branch received the proposal that seeks to strengthen the representation of the State Council, activate it and integrate it by actors from the various social, business and educational sectors.
In the Central Courtyard of the Legislative Power, the Economic and Social Council of Michoacán (CESMICH), delivered the initiative to the President of the Youth and Sports Commission, Deputy David Alejandro Cortés Mendoza, and its members, legislators Reyes Galindo Pedraza and Ernesto Núñez Aguilar, who promised to give an account of their reception so that the Plenary of the 75th Legislature is duly informed and is turned over to commissions for analysis. and opinion.
Before the President of CESMICH, Eduardo Orihuela Estefan, Counselors of the same, directors of various universities and young people who gathered to witness the delivery, Deputy David Cortés said that it is time to break with the myth that young people are apathetic as far as politics is concerned.
“Democracy is inconclusive without our influence; Here we are all needed, all contributions are valuable, that of the university academic professional, the graphic artist, the musician, the activist, the entrepreneur and businessman and the young people of the communities and indigenous peoples. Let’s not allow others to decide for us as a sector of the population,” he said.
For his part, Deputy Reyes Galindo congratulated those present for making use of the exercise that makes Michoacán a national reference, by presenting a citizen initiative in favor of the rights of young people; Initiative that puts on the table of analysis the public agenda of this sector and that actively positions them on issues of citizen participation, rights and inclusion, providing the legal framework with greater wealth, which will allow to make a modern and comprehensive law, adequate to their needs, he said.
In turn, legislator Ernesto Núñez Aguilar congratulated CESMICH and the young people who formulated and supported the initiative presented, and invited them to be part of the legislative process that will be carried out, so that they know it; Likewise, so that they take an active part in all the issues in which the participation of young people is needed.
The President of CESMICH, thanked the attention of the Youth and Sports Commission for the openness to receive the initiative, which opens the door for young people to be taken into account in an institutional way, as an exercise of citizen participation that, if materialized, could contribute to the construction of a better Michoacán.
It should be noted that the initiative aims to activate the State Youth Council, which aims to analyze, deliberate and propose public policies on youth; which should include a representative of each community and social sectors, such as the business, private and productive sectors of services; agri-food sector; migrant community; environmental sector; indigenous peoples and communities; LGBTIQ+ community; urban movement community; sports sector; People with disabilities and feminist movement.
