Uruapan Cable Car, new tourist product of Michoacán: Sectur

It will generate 500 thousand new tourists and an economic spill of 750 million pesos per year.
Morelia, Michoacán. – The Uruapan cable car will be a new tourist attraction in Michoacán that will help position the destination regionally, nationally and internationally, and will offer an experience for visitors, says Sectur through a statement.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Roberto Monroy García, estimated that the city will have at least 500 thousand new tourists a year and an additional economic spill of 750 million pesos, by developing a product that will be linked to other attractions in the area, such as the National Park.
“The experience of getting on a gondola of the cable car is already a tourist attraction of regional impact, regardless of whether it is a public transport,” said Monroy García, adding that the cabins can be used as spaces for the promotion of the own and other destinations in the state.

The Uruapan cable car will have an investment of more than 3 billion pesos, will have six stations, will move up to one thousand 500 people per hour in each of the directions, with a cost of 10 pesos through 94 cabins, and along 8.4 kilometers in length.
In 2022, the Uruapan region registered an influx of more than one million 94 thousand tourists and visitors, and an economic spill exceeding one thousand 507 million pesos, which meant a state participation of 11.45 and 11.91 percent, respectively.
