Only 133 people from the AMBA renounced the transport subsidy

After the official announcement that it will be possible to process the optional waiver of the fare subsidy for public passenger transport services online, more than 10 million transactions with SUBE were registered in the AMBA, per day. Although the option of voluntarily paying the full fare was already available, with prior notice to the driver, only 133 chose to do so. A similar number was recorded nationally, where a total of 100 people chose to pay the full amount without subsidy. For his part, the Minister of Economy and presidential candidate of the Union for the Fatherland, Sergio Massa, referred on Thursday to the low support of the proposal of the Ministry of Transport and assured that “what the people are proposing is that the proposal of the opposition to remove subsidies is unviable.” “It’s one thing to say things on TV and another to put them into practice,” Massa said.Through Resolution 566/2023, the Ministry of Transportation enabled the optional waiver of the public transport subsidy, which would imply starting to pay the full fare for services that will cost $1,100 for trains and $700 for buses in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). To do this, interested persons must complete an online form that will have the character of an affidavit and will be published on the official website argentina.gob.ar/sube, starting Friday, October 20. The implementation will be automatic from October 27, for those who have requested it.
