Elections 2023: What will the voting system be like in CABA

This Sunday, October 22, the citizens of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires are preparing for a double electoral event that will define both their local and national representatives. While most of Argentina’s provinces chose to hold their local elections on dates other than the general elections, the City decided to unify both electoral processes. In these CABA elections, voters will notice a change in the electoral process compared to the August 13 PASO. Instead of the Single Electronic Ballot System, which was previously used, citizens will use two paper ballots. One of them will be used for national offices, while the other will be used to select local representatives. It is important to note that, in order to participate in these elections, voters must appear on the electoral roll of the City of Buenos Aires. In addition, it is relevant to note that foreigners residing in the City will be able to exercise their right to vote to elect local offices, but they will not have the possibility of participating in the election of national offices. The porteños will have the responsibility of electing their representatives in the City Legislature, the head of government and other local offices, at the same time that they will cast their vote in the general elections for president, vice president, national deputies and senators, and representatives of Parlasur.
