GPPT promotes fund for care of children with burns

Morelia, Michoacán.- With the purpose of raising awareness of the importance of preventing burn accidents in minors and guaranteeing medical attention for those who require it, immediately, effectively and continuously, the Parliamentary Group of the Labor Party, made up of Deputies Belinda Hurtado Marín, Brenda Fraga Gutiérrez, Mayela Salas Sáenz and Deputies Reyes Galindo Pedraza and Baltazar Gaona García, He managed to get the legislative branch to create a fund for the care and treatment of Michoacán patients who receive care in Mexico City.
This agreement orders that through the Secretariat of Administration and Finance of the Congress of Michoacán, this fund be created, with the equivalent of one day’s per diem of each of the Deputies and that this discount be voluntarily manifested, to later be delivered to the relatives of the patients with the presence of each of the benches. This was expressed by the coordinator of the PT in Congress, Reyes Galindo Pedraza.
“This proposed agreement seeks, on the one hand, to raise awareness of the importance of prevention to avoid accidents that may expose children and adolescents to burn injuries and, on the other hand, to ensure that the Legislative Branch of the State of Michoacán generates bonds of solidarity between parents and their children who urgently require attention. rehabilitation and specialized medical treatment”
This proposal arises due to the lack of medical attention that it is not possible to receive at the Children’s Hospital of Morelia “Eva Sámano de López Mateos”, due to the fact that there is no specialized ward for burns, which is why patients with severe burns must be transferred to different hospital institutions in Mexico City. This generates expenses for family members due to the duration of treatments that require 24-hour care.
“In the Parliamentary Group of the Labor Party, we believe that it is essential to redouble efforts to guarantee the timely observance of constitutional principles and international treaties that seek to provide better living conditions, health and well-being of children and adolescents, in accordance with the provisions of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States.”
Faced with this situation, the members of the LXXV Legislature voted in favor of the agreement, which was approved unanimously.
In Michoacán, burns of children and adolescents represent the fifth cause of accidents in the home, according to estimates by the Ministry of Health of the entity. The National Institute of Statistics and Geography and the Michou Foundation and Mau I.A.P., which point out that approximately 30% of those who suffer burns are between one and four years of age and approximately 18% of those hospitalized do not survive.
