Bedolla appoints Andrea Janet Serna as new Secretary of Welfare

Morelia, Michoacán. – Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla appointed Andrea Janet Serna Hernández as the new head of the Secretariat of Welfare (Sedebi), who replaces Giulianna Bugarini Torres, according to a statement.
“There is no doubt that she is a committed woman, and I am sure that she will do a great job for the people of Michoacán,” said the president, after presenting the appointment.
Serna Hernández has a degree in Law and Social Sciences from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH), is an activist, and since October 2021 she has served as director of Priority Groups at the State Welfare Secretariat.
From 2018 to May 2021, she served as technical secretary of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences; from 2007 to 2018 he worked in the Division of Graduate Studies in Law at UMSNH.
She participated in the elaboration of the research project of the Cultural Atlas 2011, and interpretation of the National Survey of Cultural Habits, Practices and Consumption, prepared by Conaculta in the Ministry of Culture in the period 2011-2012.
She has three diplomas in the Rights of the Indigenous Peoples of Mexico, in the History of Cultural Rights and Anthropology: Approaches, and Contemporary Debates.
He participated in the National Seminar “The possibilities and limits of the use of law -from below- in the current Mexican context”, organized by the Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS), by FUNDAR A.C. and by the UMSNH.
She studied advanced photography at UNAM-ENES, Morelia and was part of the Emancipaciones Collective, which provides legal advice and accompanies different indigenous communities in the state of Michoacán free of charge.
