Social Groups Warn of Possible Protests Over Changes in Government Aid

In the midst of a reconfigured political scenario after the elections, pro-government social organizations warned of possible mobilizations and protests in the face of the recent decisions of the president-elect, Javier Milei, in relation to ministerial restructuring and the management of state assistance to the most needy sectors. The leaders of groups such as Evita, Somos Barrios de Pie, the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE), the Classist and Combative Current (CCC), and the Darío Santillán Popular Front, among others, shared their concern and determination to return to the streets in case Milei’s electoral promises materialize. The controversy arises over the possible elimination of social benefits for the neglected sectors and the ministerial reconfiguration that would relegate the Social Development portfolio to a secretariat within a super-ministry, the Ministry of Human Capital, proposed by the president-elect. This structure would absorb areas such as Education, Health and Labor, under the direction of the graduate in Family Sciences, Sandra Pettovello.De this change is confirmed, Pettovello would assume the management of fundamental programs such as the Food Plan and the Potentiate Work, until now the responsibility of Victoria Tolosa Paz. The elected national deputy, previously in charge of the dialogues with the piquetero movements and the demands for the expansion of programs and resources for productive enterprises, would see her role drastically modified.
