International repercussions of President-elect Javier Milei’s victory

The world received with hostility the victory of President-elect Javier Milei in the runoff and the main international portals in all languages defined him as “ultra-right”, “outsider”, “political experiment” and “El Loco”. Although the BBC chose to headline “Milei achieves a resounding victory over Massa and turns Argentina’s politics upside down with his libertarian and radical proposals”, CNN described him as “ultra-right”, and also pointed out in the text that the future president “doubts the future of the peso”. The New York Times published several articles on the subject, including an opinion piece titled “Argentina Prepares for an ‘Anarcho-Capitalist’ President,” which describes him as “an “anarcho-capitalist president.” outsider far-right politician with little experience in public office,” with a “proclivity to insult his critics.” In another of its articles, the U.S. newspaper warned that it is “a victory for the global far right.” And he reinforces in his descent: “Argentina’s next president is a libertarian economist whose brash style and acceptance of conspiracy theories has parallels with Donald J. Trump.” Meanwhile, The Guardian published several stories referring to the president-elect, including a profile titled: “Who is Javier Milei? ‘ El Loco’ goes on stage”, where “El Loco” is written in Spanish.  In Spain, the main media coincided in highlighting the uncertainty of the future administration: “The ultra economist sweeps and the country takes a leap into the unknown,” wrote El País, which also defines him as “a mixture of messianic preacher and rock star,” while El Mundo pointed out that “Argentina is launching an unprecedented political experiment.”
